can't find what you're looking for? ask folk in the chat and a human gets back to you right there, or email us.
the basics
- folk is a friend who lives in your texts. you text it like you'd text anyone else, and it actually goes and does things: looks stuff up, digs through your email, books the table, watches the price, nudges you when it matters. it has its own computer to work on, it can keep going while you're asleep, and it remembers what you told it months ago.
- no. folk lives in the messaging apps you already use. today that's imessage and telegram, and whatsapp is switching on country by country. there's a website for the boring parts - your plan, your connected apps, what folk remembers - but you never have to open it if you don't want to.
- sign up with your phone number and folk texts you first. no card, and you can start talking to it straight away. if you'd rather use telegram or whatsapp, you can connect those from your dashboard in a couple of taps.
- the everyday stuff: answers questions, searches your email, browses the web and actually clicks the buttons, sets reminders, joins your meetings and takes notes, writes and ships code, makes images, and calls you on the phone. it can also work in the background - watching your inbox, prices, or a website and texting you the second something changes. hook up gmail, calendar, drive, notion, slack, your bank and 1,000+ other apps, and if you use something niche you can plug in any tool that speaks mcp.
- yes, there's a free plan and it stays free - 20 messages a day, no card, no countdown. paying is for when you want folk working while you're not looking: watching things, running your morning brief, calling you.
mini folks
- a mini folk (we also call them folkways) is a little helper trained to do one job really well: send your morning brief, watch flight prices, keep your reading streak alive, check in on your workouts. you hire one and it starts texting you about that one thing. some come with their own little app to go with them.
- browse them at folk.com/folkways and tap hire, open any share link a friend sends you, or just ask in the chat - "set me up with a morning brief" - and folk finds the right one and sets it up. if it needs your calendar or your inbox, it walks you through connecting that in the chat.
- yes, and you don't need to know how to build anything. text folk "build me a mini folk that..." and it trains one for you, gives it its own app if the job calls for one, and hands you a share link right away. your friends can hire it from that link immediately. if you want it listed in the public gallery, ask folk to submit it - our team reads every submission, which usually takes a few days.
- yes. when someone new joins through your mini folk's link and becomes a paying member, you get $10 cash, and you earn $1 a month for every paying member who keeps it running. it pays out about a week later, once the refund window closes. set up payouts at folk.com/dashboard/referrals. mini folks made by the folk team don't earn, and hiring your own doesn't count.
- no. hiring one and building one are both free. the only paid part is the background running - the bit where it texts you every morning without being asked. your first mini folk unlocks a free week of that on the free plan, so you can see it work before you decide. after the week it sits quietly until you upgrade, and you can still talk to it any time.
plans & pricing
- free to start, forever. pro is $20 a month or $150 for the year, and max is $100 a month or $800 for the year. paying yearly is billed once upfront and works out roughly a third cheaper. full breakdown on the pricing page.
- 20 messages a day (you can earn your way up to 50), no card, no expiry.
- text folk on imessage, telegram or whatsapp.
- connect 2 apps - gmail, calendar, your bank, whatever matters most.
- it browses the web, takes real action, and remembers everything you tell it.
- 3 reminders and 10 images a month, plus one app you build yourself.
- the background. on free, folk answers when you text it. on pro it also works when you don't: watching your inbox, your money and prices around the clock, running your morning brief, keeping recurring reminders going, nudging you when you're near somewhere that matters, and writing proper research reports. you also get unlimited messages (fair use), unlimited connected apps, and 60 minutes a month of real phone calls with folk.
- max is the same folk, running harder. it thinks with our best models, gets five times the monthly usage allowance so it can handle much heavier automations and longer research, comes with 150 minutes of phone calls instead of 60, gets same-day answers from a human, and sees new features first.
- the free plan is the trial - it never ends, so most people just start there. on top of that, yearly plans start with 7 free days for new members (card upfront, and folk texts you before it ends so nothing sneaks up on you). if a friend invited you, your first month of pro starts with a free week too.
- in a lot of countries, yes. pro drops to $5 a month and max to $25 a month, and we work it out from your phone number - you don't have to ask or prove anything. if you're a student, text folk and ask; we sort student pricing case by case.
- on free it's simple: 20 messages a day, reset overnight. on pro and max there's no daily cap - there's a generous monthly allowance instead, and it's about how much thinking folk does, not how many texts you send. normal chatting barely touches it; hours of deep research or a big coding session use real chunks. you can see exactly where you stand in settings → billing. if you ever run it down, it resets at the start of your next month, or you can switch on pay-as-you-go and keep going.
- yes, and it takes about ten seconds - settings → billing → manage on stripe. you keep everything until the end of the period you've already paid for, then you drop back to the free plan rather than losing your folk. your memory and your chats stay put.
- card payments run through stripe - we never see or store your card details. change your card, download invoices, switch plans, or cancel from settings → billing.
your apps
- gmail, google calendar, drive, docs, sheets, outlook, teams, notion, slack, linear, todoist, strava and your bank are all one-tap connections - open your dashboard, tap connect, sign in with the account you already have. no api keys, nothing technical. beyond that there's a searchable catalogue of 1,000+ apps you can ask folk to hook up. on free you can connect 2 apps; pro and max are unlimited.
- you can plug in anything that speaks the model context protocol (mcp) - your own apis, a database, an internal tool at work. if it has an mcp server, folk can use it. and if there's something you want as a one-tap connection, just tell folk in the chat; those requests genuinely shape what we build next.
- yes, on a paid plan. bring your own anthropic, openai or openrouter key and folk uses it instead of ours. it's encrypted and stays inside your own private computer. that usage is billed by your provider directly and doesn't touch your folk allowance. add keys from your dashboard or just ask folk in the chat.
- yes - it can ring you, and you can ring it, with a real voice on the other end. pro includes 60 minutes a month and max includes 150. it only ever calls your own verified number, never anyone else on your behalf. calls are a paid feature; on free you'll get an upgrade nudge instead.
memory & privacy
- that's the whole point. folk remembers your people, your preferences, the projects you keep mentioning - and it keeps remembering, no matter how long the conversation gets. you can read everything it knows, edit it, or delete individual bits at folk.com/dashboard/brain. if you want a clean slate, settings → privacy → erase folk's memory does exactly that.
- no. we don't and never will train models on your conversations. your chats and your memory are yours, and we don't sell them to anyone either.
- your folk gets its own private computer in the cloud, with its own credentials, kept separate from everyone else's. your connected accounts, your keys and your chat history live in there and aren't shared between users. a small number of our engineers can access systems when they have to - to keep folk running or to help you when you ask - and that's covered in the privacy policy.
- open your dashboard, then settings → privacy → delete account. it cancels your plan on the spot and wipes your account, chats, memory and connected apps within seconds. encrypted backups age out shortly after, and we keep only what the law makes us keep for billing records. it can't be undone.
your account
- your number is how we know it's you, so a new number means signing up again - but you don't lose anything. text folk or email support@nozomio.com from the old number and we'll move your plan and your memory across.
- $25 cash per friend, real money, no cap. they get their first 7 days of pro free. your $25 lands once they subscribe and actually start using folk, after a short refund-window hold - or you can take it as credit on your own plan instead. grab your link at folk.com/refer.
help
- just tell folk in the chat that you need a human. it files the ticket for you and our reply comes back in that same conversation - no support portal, no ticket number to keep track of. if you'd rather email, support@nozomio.com reaches the same people. folk is built by nozomio labs, a small team that replies fast.
- tell folk in the chat, or email us. what helps most: a screenshot, roughly when it happened, and what you were trying to do. we read every single one, and feature requests really do get built.
- folk lives in the apps you already text in, so there's no new app to open and no chat window to remember to check. it gets its own private computer rather than a sandboxed script runner, its memory grows for as long as you keep talking to it, and it keeps working in the background on its own schedule. mini folks are the other big one: you can hire a ready-made helper in a tap, build your own by asking, and get paid when other people use it.
