community guidelines

these guidelines cover characters and the gallery in folk. they are part of the terms of service, and you accept them when you publish a character. characters are for adults only: you must be 18 or older to create or chat with one.

not allowed

do not create, publish, or share a character that involves:

  • sexual content involving minors, in any form. this includes characters presented as minors, characters whose canon age is under 18, and adult characters staged as children. there are no exceptions, and we report this to the authorities.
  • graphic sexual content in the listing itself, that is, in the name, picture, tagline, greeting, description, or tags anyone browsing the gallery can see.
  • hate: content that attacks or dehumanizes people for their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or nationality.
  • harassment of real people, including characters built to mock, threaten, sexualize, or expose a real person, and characters that reveal someone's private information.
  • impersonation of private individuals: a character that presents itself as a real, non-public person without their consent, or that presents itself as folk or the folk team.
  • illegal content, or content that promotes violence, terrorism, self-harm, or illegal activity.

fan-made is fine

characters inspired by books, games, shows, and public figures are welcome when they are clearly fan-made. folk labels every character as AI, made by a folk user, and not affiliated with any rights holder. do not present a fan-made character as official, and do not upload pictures you do not have the right to use. if a rights holder asks us to remove a character, we will, see the copyright and takedown policy.

what happens

filtering. every character is checked by an automated filter before it is listed in the gallery. a listing that fails is not published, and the creator is told why.

report and block. anyone can report a character, and block its creator, from the character's page in the app. blocking hides that creator's characters from you.

review. we review every report within 24 hours.

removal. content that breaks these guidelines is removed. we do not have to warn you first.

suspension. accounts that break these guidelines can be suspended or terminated, and serious or repeated violations lose access to characters permanently. we have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.

how to report

in the app, open any character and choose report. you can also email support@nozomio.com with the character's name or share link and what is wrong with it. for copyright or likeness complaints, use the copyright and takedown policy.
