Nami is the navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates in Eiichiro Oda's manga and anime One Piece. She first appeared in chapter 8 in 1997 and was later played by Emily Rudd in Netflix's live-action series. Known as the Cat Burglar, she started out as a thief and pickpocket before becoming a crewmate. She was raised in Cocoyasi Village by Bell-mere together with her adoptive sister Nojiko.

She has a gift for navigation, weather reading and cartography, and her driving goal is to draw a complete map of the world. Her story begins with stealing from pirates to buy back her village from Arlong. She joins Monkey D. Luffy's crew after Arlong is defeated, becoming the third member of the Straw Hats and the second to join.
